Fantasy futures: Where to draft your favorite Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys scored more points than any NFL team last year, so why not get “America’s Team” onto your fantasy team? Here’s where you’ll find them based on the earliest mock drafts.

QB Dak Prescott

Prescott’s 4,516 yards were third most in the NFL, but his 36 touchdowns led the league in 2023. As a result, he finished sixth overall in fantasy scoring, third among quarterbacks. Of course, throwing to CeeDee Lamb, last year’s second-leading receiver, doesn’t hurt either. In what could be his last year with the team, Prescott is an absolute steal in the seventh round of ESPN’s latest mock draft.

WR CeeDee Lamb

Although he finished behind Tyreek Hill (1,799) for the league lead in receiving yardage, no player had more fantasy points than Lamb in 2023. No wonder he’s the second player off the board in the network’s draft, just behind 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and one spot ahead of Hill.

WR Brandin Cooks

Unless Lamb gets hurt, the Cowboys No. 2 receiver has little fantasy value in 2024. Even with eight touchdowns in 2023, he finished as the team’s No. 3 receiver and 38th in PPR leagues. For FLEX purposes, he’s worth a late-round selection in deeper drafts, but he should go undrafted in 10-team leagues.

RB Ezekiel Elliott

Cowboys vice president of player personnel Will McClay may see Elliott as a lead back, but that doesn’t mean you have to draft him. The 28-year-old running back rushed for three touchdowns in 17 games with the Patriots last season, and as Fox Sports’ Skip Bayless puts it, “Elliott is more washed than dishes on Thanksgiving night."

TE Jake Ferguson

Ferguson had 19 catches as a rookie in 2022 but finished as the team’s second-leading receiver with 71 catches for 761 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. More importantly, his 177.1 fantasy points were ninth most among tight ends, one spot higher than former Cowboy Dalton Schultz who signed with the Texans.

Given the state of the Cowboys’ running game, Ferguson could see more work in 2024. For the moment, he projects as a 12th-round pick, taken after less productive players like Atlanta’s Kyle Pitts and unproven Raiders rookie Brock Bowers.

K Brandon Aubrey

Aubrey was a revelation after joining the team in 2023. His 180 fantasy points were 25 more than Chicago’s Cairo Santos, Baltimore’s Justin Tucker and Philadelphia’s Jake Elliott, who tied for second place with 155 points. He’s easily the first kicker taken in fantasy drafts and should go in Round 14.

D/ST

Dallas and Baltimore each averaged 10.1 points per game to lead fantasy football with 172 total points last season, nearly as many as Cooks and Ferguson. Let your league mates tell you defenses don’t matter and be ready to take them early in the 15th round.
