Spurs HC Gregg Popovich makes a prophetic statement about Victor Wembanyama's future

San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama posted another incredible stat line Sunday night, prompting head coach Gregg Popovich to make a lofty prediction for the rookie sensation's future.

"He's going to show us things that none of us have ever seen before," Popovich said via Spectrum News 1

In a 122-115 overtime win against the Brooklyn Nets, Wembanyama finished with 33 points (14-of-26), 15 rebounds, seven assists and seven blocks. He's the first player in NBA history, rookie or otherwise, to record 30-plus points, 15-plus rebounds, five-plus assists and five-plus blocks while shooting 50% or better.

Etching his name in the record books is becoming old hat for Wembanyama. His most recent feat comes only days after he became the second player to reach 200 blocks and 100 three-pointers in a season.

Popovich and his teammates have long described Wembanyama as an elite performer, even considering his age and experience. However, the rest of the league has also taken notice, with Damian Lillard the latest veteran to acknowledge him as a "star."

Perhaps the scariest notion for the rest of the league is that he's potentially progressing more quickly than many believed possible. Wembanyama admitted that his insane performance against the Nets wouldn't have been possible in game one of the season. But he's beginning to see where all his hard work throughout the year is leading.

"Even though it feels like it's little by little, every game, when you do it everyday, after a whole season it's adds up to something big," Wembanyama said.

There's no telling what Wembanyama will ultimately accomplish over his NBA career. Though, he has already captured the imagination of basketball fans and his Hall of Fame coach when it comes to the possibilities.
