The corresponding move was to place reliever Jackson Stephens on the injured list with right elbow inflammation, all but ending his season - he won't be eligible to return for postseason action until the World Series, were Atlanta to reach.
Dodd, 25, is 2-2 with a 7.62 ERA this season in his six major league starts, striking out 14 in his 28.1 inningas. A 2021 3rd round pick out of Southeast Missouri State, Dodd was a candidate in spring training for the 5th starter's job. Despite not winning the job, he ended up starting that opening week after Max Fried headed to the IL with a hamstring strain.
Outside of his time in Atlanta, Dodd also pitched in sixteen games (fourteen starts) for AAA Gwinnett this season, going 4-6 with a 5.91 ERA. He struck out 71 batters in his 78 innings, good for a 8.1 K/9, while walking 30 (3.6 BB/9).
Dodd's expected to start today's season finale, with the bullpen being emptied behind him as Atlanta looks to end the regular season on a high note.
