The Arizona Wildcats are the latest program to experience the domino effect of Nick Saban’s retirement. After Washington’s Kalen DeBoer left for Alabama, Arizona’s head coach, Jedd Fisch, took the job for the Huskies. Any head coaching change means players will be entering the transfer portal. Star running back Jonah Coleman announced today he is entering the transfer portal.

Don’t let Coleman’s small stature fool you. He is a highly productive running back who has rushed for 1,550 yards and ten touchdowns during his time with the program. Coleman is the first player to announce his intention to leave since Fisch left for Washington. The players have a 30-day window to enter the portal, which is likely only the beginning. This is a huge loss for Arizona, as Coleman was expected to be the top running back on the depth chart in 2024.
It is hard to get a good outlook on 2024 because we really don’t know what the roster will look like. However, we do know the schedule the Wildcats will be facing in 2024. The toughest matchups are the Colorado Buffaloes, UCF Knights, and the Utah Utes. They will see many familiar foes in the new look Big 12 as many former Pac-12 members are joining. The program may go through a transition year as it recovers from the coaching change.
It will be interesting to see who the Arizona Wildcats can get for their head coaching position. Hopefully, that person will be able to stabilize the program and lead the Wildcats to success in 2024 and beyond.
